Please check with immigration especially if you have a long stay visa that it wont be lost by leaving Thailand and going to Laos for the day. You could be left with only two weeks before you have to leave. This has happened to family. Fortunately they were leaving soon anyway but be careful as visa regulations do change from time to time.
